خير الأمور أوسطها

Do not put off today’s work until tomorrow.

اللي ما يعرف الصقر يشويه

He who doesn’t know a falcon will roast it.

حط في راسك ثلج

Put ice on your head — stay calm.

العين ما تعارض الحاجب

The eye does not oppose the brow.

اللي يبيه البيت يكفيه

What the house wants, it finds enough.

امشِ سنة ولا تتعدَّ نهر

القناعة كنز لا يفنى

من حفر حفرة لأخيه وقع فيها

إذا غامرتَ في شرفٍ مرومٍ فلا تقنع بما دون النجوم

If you risk yourself for honour, settle for nothing beneath the stars.

ما كل ما يتمنى المرء يدركه

تجري الرياح بما لا تشتهي السفن

Winds blow as ships do not wish.

عند الشدائد يُعرف الإخوان
